Stashing Your Cash-
Where's the safest place to stash your cash? You can keep your money in a piggy bank, or you can hide it under your mattress. But if it just sits there you are actually losing money! If you keep money in a savings account, the bank pays interest on your money. Your interest will earn interest, making you even more money!
A Matter of Fact-
During the gold rush days in the late 1800's a rich woman put a lot of bills inside her wood-burning stove for safekeeping. She figured that burglars would never think to look there. But the woman forgot to tell her husband. One day her husband lit the stove-and their whole fortune went up in smoke.
Time to Open an Account-
So you've decided to open a savings account. What do you do next? At the bank you'll probably fill out a signature card. To make sure you are who you say you are, you'll need identification, such as a birth certificate. You will also need to tell the bank your Social Security Number. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian will need to help you open an account.
